PIETÀ

An experimental radio show about a unique love story.

Pieta bilde under Les Mer.jpeg

This is a unique love story, where the main characters appear to be completely alone and completely dependent on each other at the same time. The couple both reach for and loose each other, merge and separate, in one great, rhythmic movement. With this backdrop, the two tell their story through an entire life, from experiencing the war as children and youths, to their old days, with their adult children.

This production grasps several types of style within radio productions, in that way it can be called an experiment. Here, the literal words are untouched. It is through the woman's and man's voices and their presence that the text comes to life. The two live and relive their life together in an intense presence, where the sounds effect paints the landscape they live in, with rich nuance and suggestive precision.  As the story takes on new dimensions, the soundscape functions on several levels – also as their inner landscape.

Pietà (the bread) is the middle a part of Erland Kiøsterud's great cycle of the three novels named Pasjonene (The passions).
