These two films tell the story of the family of the director Cecilia Caballero Jeske, who staged Teigen's play "Time Without Books" in Uruguay. It is also a story about the work with "Time without books" in Uruguay and thus a story about how the theatre can have a great impact on people's real lives.

In the film, Cecilia says:

"My whole life has been characterized by the dictatorship era. Dad was imprisoned and tortured. And then we became refugees. We came to Norway when I was five years old and settled in Oslo. And even though we have moved on in life, I will never completely escape the feeling of homelessness. [...] Ever since I started directing theatre, this was the story I wanted to tell. The story of my childhood that destroyed my family and me. I've always wanted to talk about this, but never got around to it. It will mean exposing the family."

"Dad and I have met Lene separately. We haven't had the chance to talk about everything that happened. The play deals with how we as a society and our family coped with being in a dictatorship. [...] As a director, it is wonderful and at the same time very challenging to work with Lene's stage text. I could never have written so clearly about this period myself. I think the topic is far too close to me, but Lene manages to put our lives and the dictatorship era into perspective."
